Picnics are a quintessential summer activity. And as summer begins winding down, it’s crunch time to take advantage of our beautiful sunny weather. There are tons of great picnic spots by the shore and we’ve rounded the can’t miss spots.
The beach, obviously, is a wonderful spot to picnic. And you certainly have your choice, we are on the Jersey shore after all. Ocean City, Brigantine, Wildwood, Margate, Avalon, the list just keeps going! Just be sure you remember your sunscreen and watch out for those seagulls!
If you’re looking for something a little outdoorsy, Winding River Campground in Mays Landing offers picnic areas and kayak,
canoe, and tubing rentals on the Egg Harbor River. There are a few sandy banks along the way to stop for a riverside picnic.
Also in Mays Landing is Estell Manor Park. Lots of green space, hiking trails, and guests can borrow sports equipment (Frisbees, horseshoes, soccer balls, etc) for free!
Birch Grove Park in Northfield is a great spot for families with a playground, picnic areas, and fishing.
And don’t forget about Historic Smithville. A little towns with lots to offer – village shops, paddle boats, and an old-fashioned arcade will help you work up an appetite.
